The Two Ultimate Kinds of MLM Distributors
I have seen websites and I am sure you too have, talking about the different kinds of MLM distributors out there. I was left bewildered after checking them.
Each site has different versions – different numbers and a variety of titles. Some of them are really amusing to say the least. Amusing did I say? Absolutely. One would have 4 animal traits while others have six different psychological behaviors.
If you are getting into being an MLM'ers or new to the MLM (Multi-level marketing) business, I am sure that you are eager to ascertain which type of Multi-level marketer you are.
In my Facebook fan page, I have mentioned only a couple of kinds of networkers:
A. The one who shows how it is done (the quality of a leader is to show how things are done)
B. The one who only watch how it is done by the others. (A follower)
Let me just refine them as the 2 Kinds of MLM distributors. I want to make it as simple as possible so that we can quickly determine to which type they fit in. Most importantly we will be checking the most effective one in the MLM business. Wouldn't you want to know that? Please read on.
The main purpose of this is post is to analyze how different people practice MLM coaching and duplication. After all, the way they "copy the system" is the biggest factor that will make them successful MLM leaders in the industry. So, if you are ready, let me describe "The Two Ultimate kinds of MLM distributors".
1. Passive MLM'ers – This kind of distributors are great listeners. Having great listening skills are important. If you are a great listener you tend to learn more than the person who is not great at listening. Successful people listen to what is being said, that way they learn more than their completion does. They usually get educated well on the concept and love doing a lot of paper work. Since passive MLM distributors like administrative tasks so much, they conduct countless lectures to their downlines on how to set goals, use memory joggers and how to get quality prospects. And I am not saying that this is wrong at all. Goal setting is one of the best ways to achieve more in less amount of time. They let their network out in the field and constantly check their progress though meetings and phone calls. Where they lack is their ability to be a leader rather than a manager. There is a huge difference between being a leader and a manager.
Although passive MLM'ers is great instructors, they lack a little when it comes to action oriented activities. They are short in giving examples in prospecting and recruiting. They just watch over their downlines and see if they are doing their assignments. The members tend to feel left alone and develop doubts among themselves because they haven't "seen" their upline actually do it. Although their downlines are taught well on the business concept, they lack the energy to become leaders and build networks.
2. Active MLM'ers – This kind of distributors on the other hand love action! They easily become bored and irritated during lectures, make no mistake they too love learning and all the things associated and mentioned above. They would rather call their downlines and have them assemble in a place where they can catch a lot of "fish". These MLM distributors demonstrate the procedure of laser targeting prospects. Showing their network how everything is done is what they do best and they expect them to do the same.
Although active MLM distributors are great recruiters, they lack the ability to teach their downlines the "other" key things in their MLM business; like setting goals, being aware of the company policy and products, and practicing ethical marketing. Active MLM'ers are more comfortable hunting down prospects now and just do the paper works later. The problem of that is they never get to do their assignments. They often focus on numbers rather than looking for key players.
Are you an MLM'er? Which type do you belong?
I am sure that you will find yourself in both places. It is only the question of which one you behave the most. Are you mainly a passive MLM distributor or an active one?
When you join Network Marketing or MLM, you will learn "Duplication". However, you will not immediately be comfortable in all aspects of networking. Because of this, you will practice activities on which you are stronger. This creates active and passive MLM'ers.
In some articles I saw, there are 4, 6 or even 12 kinds of MLM distributors defined. I feel this is just to have discussions on how people treat MLM businesses. This does not help much though. If you decide to change to the one which you think is ideal, you just switch places; but then, you will still duplicate only a "fraction of the whole system".
The point is that you have to be balanced in your MLM business. Become both passive and active.
If you are more passive, you have to push yourself and show your downlines how to prospect and invite. If you are more active on the other hand, make some time to conduct lectures so your downlines know how to do things properly and ethically.
Successful MLM distributors are not only busy hunting; they also take time to sit, meditate and do their homework.
When you master being both passive and active, you become what? Pro-active? No! Not another kind to confuse you.
I would just call you a true MLM leader!
